Since I was a little dude that I love to create random stories, either by writing scripts, or drawing comic books. I am fully story driven, and my music always tells some kind of story (even if it doesn't feel like it).
Sometimes it's personal stories/moments from my life that I want to tell through sound, other times it's purely fictional stories that I create.
Music is my prefered way to express myself, because it's not concrete (unless it has lyrics). It's open to the imagination of the listener.
I have a classical background, and that's the medium where I started to express myself.
My first composition (that was kindly played by the clarinet orchestra of the Conservatório de Música de Vila Real de Trás-os-Montes) tells a story of my first 'girlfriend' that sadly passed away at 4 years old (I was 4 years old as well. This event had a huge impact on my life). You can hear it here:
This composition had a huge impact on my life, and was the beginning of my musical experimentation/diary.
Videogames always had a huge impact on my life, and I always found the process of videogame music composition fascinating. How in the world masters such as Koji Kondo, Grant Kirkhope or Nobuo Uematsu, could create such great tracks with such limited software/hardware? Limitations always fascinates me. And I try to have some form of limitation within my music composition, to think differently and approach each song with a different feeling.
The project 'Kamaraum com Beatata' (aka Rodízio 3000) with my good friend and great musician Kamaraum was a way to experiment with the classics from the videogame era and add our own personal twist.

This project was a really fun way of improving our technique as musicians and composers.
I worked on two short-movie soundtracks 'Two in One' from Pedro Pimentel and 'Outros Tempos' by Carlos Sequeira.
I love experimenting with different genres that I love like Progressive Rock (Beardfish, Haken and Yes are a huge inspiration), Eletronic Music (Louis Cole, Infected Mushroom, Daft Punk are inpirations), Jazz (Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Bill Evans), etc.
A great way to experiment with different types of music is searching for random type of music from all around the world and try to recreate that. It's awesome.
